We’d always kind of known each other—nothing dramatic, just one of those “Oh, yeah, I know them” kind of situations. For a while, that’s all it was. A friendly wave here, a quick chat there, but nothing that made you think, “Hey? This person might change my life someday”.

Then, somehow, we ended up spending more time together. Maybe it was a random conversation that lasted longer than it should have or just realising you liked being around each other. Before we knew it, we were friends—the kind of friends who could turn to one another in happiness and hardship.

At some point, things shifted. Maybe it was a joke that landed just a little too perfectly, or the way we started remembering the little details about one another. Suddenly, we found ourselves wondering why we cared so much about what each other thought.

It wasn’t some big, dramatic moment. It was just… easy. Friendship slowly turned into something more, and neither of us fought it because it just felt right.

Dating was a whirlwind. One year of adventures, laughs, figuring each other out and our puppy named Tank. But amidst all the excitement, Matthew knew something deeply important: And when the time came to propose, he didn’t just make it special—he made it unforgettable, choosing the place closest to her heart, Madeira, as the backdrop for one of the biggest moments of their life. Every step brought us closer to the life we’ve always dreamed of - together.
